Braving the Storm

Have you experienced or witnessed racism, discrimination, harassment, or a hate incident? This page provides a safe space to voluntarily share an experience that happened to you, that you witnessed, or that you are reporting on behalf of someone else.

About the Project

Braving the Storm equips immigrant women to recognize, respond to, and report incidents of hate. This anti-hate project aims to document experiences of racism, discrimination and hate among racialized immigrant women. Information collected through this form will help the Immigrant Women’s Information Network (IWIN) identify patterns, strengthen advocacy, and develop educational resources to help communities recognize, prevent and respond to hate.

The three-year project runs from April 2026 to March 2029 and is funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program.

For more information about Canada’s Action Plan on Combatting Hate, including definitions of hate crimes and hate incidents, current hate-related trends in Canada, federal priorities and initiatives, and information about Canada’s legal framework for addressing hate, please click here.

Through the Braving the Storm project, the Immigrant Women’s Information Network (IWIN) is collecting information about experiences of racism, discrimination, and hate affecting racialized immigrant women in Canada. The information collected will help us identify patterns and trends, strengthen advocacy, develop educational resources, and support community efforts to recognize, prevent, and respond to hate.
